Ray Blexrud changed the Minnesota liquor business forever when he opened Liquor Depot in 1974. For over 31 years it stood as Minnesota's Largest Warehouse Liquor Store and set the standard for value and selection. Ray's daughters, Judy, Jeannie and Kathy have run the family business since the mid 1990's. Ten years later, the dramatic changes in the neighborhood and in the business, coupled with the opportunity presented in the proposed Bridgewater condominium development led the sisters to set a new course for their family business.
The Liquor Depot closed its doors for good in April of 2006 making way for the building that would house our new store. Sorella Wine & Spirits opened for business on the final day of October 2007. The name Sorella is Italian for "sister" and was chosen by the sisters to pay homage to their Italian mother, Nicolina. The store is managed by a third generation of the Blexrud family and several former Liquor Depot employees.
